Now we will apply the final light touches to the icon:
Pahse 3: Finalizing The Icon
15 – Let’s have two copies from the top side and place them overlapping each other, with the one top moved a little higher.
Next, we will apply minus front to gain a slim two sided corner:

16- Since we have a nice shining corner, let’s place that corner on the top with screen level:

17- To get a another shining line on the front center, we will first duplicate the base hexagon:

18- Now let’s create a dummy mask from filled rectangles, leaving only a place for front center shiner:

19- We are so close to be done.
Now we will minus front these to crop the shiner:

20- Finally, let’s place that shiner on the front center to complete our cube icon:

That’s it!
You’ve got yourself a nice lovely shining cube, and it is scalable!

If you like, you can play more to achieve different colors and shades/glows:
See how it turns out:

I’ve included the illustrator file used for this tutorial.
You can download it from here.
I hope you enjoyed doing as much as I enjoyed tutoring it =)

eventhough I dedicate the majority of of my working day on the web using games like facebook poker or pet society, I nevertheless like to dedicate some free time to research a few sites sometimes and I’m comfortable to report this most recent article is in truth more or less good and greatly more desirable than 1 / 2 the various spam I read today , anyways i’m off to enjoy a smattering of hands of facebook poker

It looks very modern and technology-inspired. I’m digging the glossy-chrome effect. I’ve been trying to design a 3D logo-emblem somewhat like this for myself (more or less, in essence) and it did not come out as what I hope it would! I didn’t manage to get it looking right like yours did. Finally, I decided to use the professional services of an online logo design site instead (http://www.logodesignstation.com) and got the logo I wanted at an affordable price and fast too, within 24 hours. I did provide this link for reference and inspiration to my designer as I liked how yours look. I’m not going to design a logo without any professional help anytime soon although it’s fun. Thanks for posting this, btw!
